Job summary

Google Public Sector is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to embed with State and Local Government customers, bridging frontier AI products with production-grade realities. You will code, debug, and co-build bespoke agentic workflows directly within the customer's environment, beyond traditional advisory roles.

You will tackle data readiness, integration, and state-management challenges, drive secure deployments, and contribute to Google Cloud's product roadmap while maintaining

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/engineering.
• 8+ years shipping production-grade AI-driven solutions using Python/TypeScript.
• Experience building scalable pipelines for structured and unstructured data with vector databases and RAG-like architectures.
• Experience architecting scalable AI systems on cloud platforms.
• Experience leading technical discovery sessions with executive stakeholders and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a developer for complex AI applications, moving from prototypes to production-grade agentic workflows.
• Architect and code the connective tissue between Google's AI products and customers’ live infrastructure.
• Build high-performance evaluation pipelines and observability frameworks.
• Identify repeatable field patterns and convert them into reusable modules or features.
• Co-build with customer teams to instill Google-grade development practices.
