Job summary

Google is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (AI) to lead the engineering lifecycle of conversational AI pilots, turning prototypes into production-ready solutions at customer sites. You will own end-to-end delivery, including security, reliability, and scalable architectures, working closely with enterprise customers and Google’s product teams.

This role requires deep software engineering, ML operations, and cloud infrastructure expertise, with significant travel to Google’s largest customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development using Python or similar languages.
• Experience deploying resources via Terraform or similar tools to automate setup of agents, functions, or networking.
• Experience building full-stack applications that interact with enterprise IT infrastructures and developing external customer projects.
• Experience architecting AI systems on cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform).

Responsibilities

• Lead developer for conversational AI and customer experience applications, turning rapid prototypes into production-grade agentic workflows.
• Architect and code conversational flows connecting Google’s AI products with customers’ infrastructure, APIs, and data silos.
• Build high-performance evaluation pipelines and observability to optimize agent workloads with low latency and high security.
• Identify repeatable field patterns in Google’s AAI stack and convert them into reusable modules or feature requests for Engineering teams.
• Co-build with customer engineering teams to ensure project success and end-user adoption.
