Job summary

Baxter Healthcare in Marion, NC is seeking a Formulation Technician to support high‑quality manufacturing operations. You will weigh, label, stage materials, and oversee mixing tanks to ensure adherence to procedures and cGMP standards.

You will handle material movement, routine maintenance, and safety initiatives in a fast-paced environment. The role requires basic math, English communication, and stability in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Proper formulation of tanks including weighing, labeling, and staging materials with adherence to procedures.
• Inspect, clean and re-palletize raw materials from warehouse.
• Own Mixing and Tank Rooms ensuring cGMP adherence.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance in the Mixing Complex.
• Promote safety culture in the area.
• Investigate inefficiencies or quality concerns in Mixing equipment/processes.
• Generate and implement continuous improvement in Mixing area.
• Operate PIT to transport materials to mixing tanks.
• Pump or blend raw materials into mixing tanks.
• Perform cleaning activities including entering tanks with ladder/safety harness.
• Manage batch information via POMS during mixing process.
• Obtain samples and perform scheduled quality checks.
• Notify supervisor of safety/quality issues.
• Learn and apply SOPs and cGMPs.
• Maintain 6S in the work area.

What You'll Be Doing

• Responsible for proper formulation of tanks including weighing, labeling, staging materials with strict adherence to procedures and standardized formulas.

• Inspect, clean and re-palletize raw materials received from the warehouse.

• Take ownership of Mixing and Tank Rooms to ensure adherence to cGMPs.

• Perform routine preventative maintenance in the Mixing Complex.

• Promotes a culture of safety in the area.

• Investigate, identify, and correct or elevate any inefficiency’s or quality concerns for Mixing equipment and processes.

• Generate and implement continuous improvement activities to the Mixing area and process.

• Use a powered industrial truck (PIT) to transport staged materials to the assigned mixing tank.

• Pump or manually blend raw materials into a chemical solution mixing tank.

• Perform and document scheduled cleaning activities which include using a ladder and safety harness to climb into mixing tanks in order to clean the inside of the vessel.

• Navigate the computerized Production Operating Management System (POMS) to access, manage and document batch information throughout the entire mixing process.

• Obtain samples & perform scheduled quality checks.

• Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur.

• Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

• Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles.

What You'll Bring

• High School Diploma or GED and must be at least 18 years of age.

• One year of manufacturing experience preferred.

• CRC (Career Readiness Certification) at the Silver Level preferred.

• Basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.

• Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.

• Ability to perform basic mathematics.

• Possess or be able to obtain PIT Operator Certification.

• Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements

• Requires continuous firm grasping and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.

• Lifting and carrying on average up to 50 pounds continuously and up to 75 pounds occasionally throughout the shift.

• Pass the PIT physical.

• Normal visual acuity and the ability to distinguish color are necessary.

• Occasionally specialized physicals are required when working with certain drug codes.

• Must be able to bend/stoop, squat, climb, reach above shoulder level, twist at the neck and twist at the waist frequently throughout the shift and balance and reach at or below shoulder level continuously throughout the shift.
