Job summary

Baxter International Inc. is hiring a Formulation Technician in Kentucky to support tank formulation, material handling, and quality checks in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

You will work across the Mixing Complex, perform cleaning and maintenance, and ensure compliance with cGMPs and SOPs while contributing to safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • CRC (Career Readiness Certification) at the Silver Level preferred.
  • Basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.
  • Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics.
  • Possess or be able to obtain PIT Operator Certification.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate tanks with weighing, labeling, and staging materials per procedures.
  • Inspect, clean and re-palletize raw materials from the warehouse.
  • Own Mixing and Tank Rooms to ensure cGMPs.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance in the Mixing Complex.
  • Promote safety in the area and uphold quality standards.
  • Investigate and correct inefficiencies or quality concerns for mixing equipment.
  • Generate continuous improvement activities for Mixing area/process.
  • Operate PIT to transport materials to mixing tanks.
  • Blend raw materials into chemical solution mixing tank.
  • Conduct scheduled cleaning of tanks and access vessels safely.
  • Navigate POMS to manage batch information throughout mixing.
  • Obtain samples and perform scheduled quality checks.
  • Notify supervisor of safety/quality issues and take action.
  • Learn and apply 6S and current GMP standards.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Responsible for proper formulation of tanks including weighing, labeling, staging materials with strict adherence to procedures and standardized formulas.
  • Inspect, clean and re-palletize raw materials received from the warehouse.
  • Take ownership of Mixing and Tank Rooms to ensure adherence to cGMPs.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance in the Mixing Complex.
  • Promotes a culture of safety in the area.
  • Investigate, identify, and correct or escape any inefficiency’s or quality concerns for Mixing equipment and processes.
  • Generate and implement continuous improvement activities to the Mixing area and process.
  • Use a powered industrial truck (PIT) to transport staged materials to the assigned mixing tank.
  • Pump or manually blend raw materials into a chemical solution mixing tank.
  • Perform and document scheduled cleaning activities which include using a ladder and safety harness to climb into mixing tanks in order to clean the inside of the vessel.
  • Navigate the computerized Production Operating Management System (POMS) to access, manage and document batch information throughout the entire mixing process.
  • Obtain samples & perform scheduled quality checks.
  • Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur.
  • Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles.
What You’ll Bring
  • High School Diploma or GED and must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematics.
  • Possess or be able to obtain PIT Operator Certification.

Physical Requirements
  • Requires continuous firm grasping and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Lifting and carrying on average up to 50 pounds continuously and up to 75 pounds occasionally throughout the shift.
  • Pass the PIT physical.
  • Normal visual acuity and the ability to distinguish color are necessary.
  • Occasionally specialized physicals are required when working with certain drug codes.
  • Must be able to bend/stoop, squat, climb, reach above shoulder level, twist at the neck and twist at the waist frequently throughout the shift and balance and reach at or below shoulder level continuously throughout the shift.
