Job summary

Baxter is seeking a Formulation Technician to support the maintenance department in manufacturing operations. You will lead crew efforts, manage equipment, and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards while coordinating with engineers and technicians.

The role emphasizes hands-on process work, documentation in POMS, and strict attention to procedures. A focus on efficiency, teamwork, and continuous improvement is essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of manufacturing experience preferred.
• CRC at the Silver Level preferred.
• Basic English written and oral communication suffices to communicate with team members.
• Understand safety and quality instructions and read work instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• PIT Operator Certification to be possessed or obtained.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning for the assigned maintenance department.
• Provide leadership within the maintenance organization and guide engineers, supervisors and technicians.
• Manage the area budget and headcount resources.
• Direct projects to meet quality, time and budget constraints.
• Develop strategies to improve asset availability for the department.
• Give technical direction to staff and foster innovation.
• Formulate and weigh materials with strict adherence to procedures and standardized formulas.
• Inspect and re-palletize raw materials from the warehouse.
• Operate and maintain Mixing and Tank Rooms following cGMPs.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance in the Mixing Complex.
• Promote a culture of safety in the area.
• Identify and address inefficiencies or quality concerns in mixing equipment and processes.
• Implement continuous improvement in mixing area and processes.
• Use PIT to move materials to mixing tanks.
• Blend raw materials into a chemical solution in mixing tanks.
• Perform and document scheduled cleanings in the vessels.
• Navigate POMS to access and document batch information.
• Obtain samples and perform scheduled quality checks.
• Notify supervisor and take action on safety, quality, or mechanical issues.
• Learn and apply rigorous quality standards and SOPs.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles.

What You'll Be Doing

• Responsible for the strategic planning of the assigned maintenance department.
• Provides leadership within the maintenance organization and leads the organization’s engineers, supervisors and technicians.
• Responsible for the area budget and headcount resources.
• Directs the team to complete projects and programs within boundaries of quality, time and budget.
• Based on significant technical and managerial expertise, creates a strategy and structure to improve asset availability for the department.
• Provides technical direction to staff.
• Fosters an environment of creativity and innovation in completing departmental responsibilities.
• Responsible for proper formulation of tanks including weighing, labeling, staging materials with strict adherence to procedures and standardized formulas.
• Inspect, clean and re-palletize raw materials received from the warehouse.
• Take ownership of Mixing and Tank Rooms to ensure adherence to cGMPs.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance in the Mixing Complex.
• Promotes a culture of safety in the area.
• Investigate, identify, and correct or elevate any inefficiency’s or quality concerns for Mixing equipment and processes.
• Generate and implement continuous improvement activities to the Mixing area and process.
• Use a powered industrial truck (PIT) to transport staged materials to the assigned mixing tank.
• Pump or manually blend raw materials into a chemical solution mixing tank.
• Perform and document scheduled cleaning activities which include using a ladder and safety harness to climb into mixing tanks in order to clean the inside of the vessel.
• Navigate the computerized Production Operating Management System (POMS) to access, manage and document batch information throughout the entire mixing process.
• Obtain samples & perform scheduled quality checks.
• Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur.
• Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
• Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles.

What You'll Bring

• High School Diploma or GED and must be at least 18 years of age.
• One year of manufacturing experience preferred.
• CRC (Career Readiness Certification) at the Silver Level preferred.
• Basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.
• Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Possess or be able to obtain PIT Operator Certification.
• Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements

Requires continuous firm grasping and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. Lifting and carrying on average up to 50 pounds continuously and up to 75 pounds occasionally throughout the shift. Pass the PIT physical. Normal visual acuity and the ability to distinguish color are necessary. Occasionally specialized physicals are required when working with certain drug codes. Must be able to bend/stoop, squat, climb, reach above shoulder level, twist at the neck and twist at the waist frequently throughout the shift and balance and reach at or below shoulder level continuously throughout the shift.

Compensation

This position has a pay rate of $44,000.00 annually.
