Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in High Point, NC is seeking Manufacturing Tech II roles within the gelatin-based drug delivery dosage forms line. You will operate encapsulation equipment, monitor processes, and assist with changeovers while adhering to cGMP standards.

Roles include Gelatin Associate, Post Production, and Medicina Associate; candidates must have a high school diploma and at least 1 year of related experience. Day-night shifts with differential are available, and safety PPE is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of manufacturing/production/lab experience preferred.
• Experience in a cGMP environment is a plus.
• SAP experience preferred for Gelatin Associate roles.
• Pallet jack and forklift experience may be required for certain positions.

Responsibilities

• Operate encapsulation equipment and monitor temperatures and settings.

Location/Division Specific Information

Within the Pharma Services Group (PSG), the High Point, NC location specializes in gelatin-based drug delivery dosage forms (softgels). Our expertise lies in the development and production of various softgel technologies.

Hours

Days: 7am-7pm - rotating 2-2-3 schedule

Nights: 7pm-7am - rotating 2-2-3 schedule; w/ 10% added night shift differential

How Will You Make an Impact

Formulation Tech II, Machine Operator: Responsible for operating an encapsulating machine to produce products from pre-mixed ingredients, ensuring accurate temperatures, machine settings, equipment set-ups, in-process measurements, and quality product.

• Manufacture simple, bulk products
• Observe machine operation, adjust as needed, take samples of product, and perform in-process testing
• Assist Set-Up person to set up machine, empty basket, clean and prepare machine for changeover, and assist with the actual changeover
• Assist with cleanup and other encapsulation duties as needed
• Operate inline printing equipment

Formulation Tech II, Gelatin Associate: Responsible for manufacturing a quality gel material for use in our encapsulation process.

• Read and adhere to workplace procedures such as SOPs, Batch Records, cGMP’s, and MSDS memos.
• Weighs raw materials, loads gelatin silos, mix GMRs, Transfer Tio2, and monitor temperatures of GMRs.
• Mix gel for use on production line.
• Train in AGMS (Automated Gelatin Manufacturing System).
• Performs all cleaning duties in area.

Formulation Tech II, Post Production Associate: Responsible for inspecting product, cleaning trays/deeps and operation the tray inspection machine to ensure quality of product.

• Inspect capsules on inspection trays, removes defects such as odd shapes, transfer marks, and leakers.
• Read and adhere to workplace procedures such as SOPs, Batch Records, cGMP’s, and MSDS memos.
• Clean used trays/deeps, sweep capsules from floor, removed lodged capsules in equipment.
• Operates deepless rooms with vision system, sample and test product, and operate box maker machine and transfer information to SAP.

Formulation Tech II, Medicina Associate: responsible for manufacturing a quality fill material for use in our encapsulation process.

• Read and adhere to workplace procedures such as SOPs, Batch Records, cGMP’s, and MSDS memos.
• Retrieve, weigh, identify, mix, and store raw materials.
• Cleans equipment and performs all other cleaning duties in area.
• Manufactures Neat fills/blends and complex batches.
• Produces quality fill material including simple potent compounds for use in our encapsulation department utilizing multiple types of equipment and processes.
• May operate forklift.

Qualifications

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check to include drug screening.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• Required: Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting or related field
• Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment
• Preferred: SAP experience (for Gelatin Associate)
• Preferred: Pallet Jack & forklift experience (for Gelatin and Medicine Associates)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Ability to interpret data, perform basic calculations, and troubleshoot
• Ability to work a 12-hour shift in a 24-hour, 7 day per week operation
• Meet DEA security clearance requirements if requested
• Must have the flexibility to work overtime as needed

Physical Requirements / Work Environment (may include, but not limited to)

• Must have the ability to regularly lift, push, pull, or transport items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Adherence to all GMP Safety Standards
• Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc. allowed
• Loud noises (equipment/machinery)
• Some degree of PPE required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.)
• Standing for full shift
• Working at heights
• Repetitive motions over a prolonged period including overhead lifting and reaching
• Close and color vision is required (not needed for Machine Operator)
