Merck & Co., Inc. in South San Francisco is seeking a Formulation Scientist (R2) for onsite work in Discovery Pharmaceutical Sciences.

You will support physico-chemical characterization and formulation development of proteins or small molecule drug candidates, working in a fast-paced, collaborative team. The role requires a BS with 3 years experience or MS in Chemical/Biochemical/Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry or related fields.

Qualifications

• BS with three years experience or MS in Chemical/Biochemical/Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related disciplines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn and apply new scientific principles and perform basic data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develops and applies basic principles and scientific concepts to execute work in a laboratory environment in compliance with Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Proactively identifies and troubleshoots potential issues with procedures, data, or instrumentation (e.g., UPLC).
• Executes routine experiments and data interpretation with appropriate technical guidance.
• Builds awareness of relevant new technologies to grow as a pharmaceutical scientist.
