Position Title

Formula Milk Room Nutrition Tech: Charleston, SC.

Job Summary

As a Nutrition Technician for Formula and Human Milk, you will assist in the successful operation of Food & Nutrition Services. Your responsibilities include the preparation, labeling, storage, and delivery of all formulas and human milk in the Nutrition Room for infants and pediatric patient populations. This role is ideal for an energetic individual who thrives in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare feedings accurately according to established written formulations and pre‑set procedures while adhering to quality control standards and aseptic technique.
• Use correct measuring techniques for powders and liquids.
• Verify new or questionable feeding orders with the care team, obtaining standardized recipes as needed.
• Access the clinical information system to obtain patient feeding orders and print labels and production lists.
• Maintain competence with computer and printer systems.
• Store prepared feedings properly until delivery to units, and deliver them promptly to unit refrigerators.
• Clean and sanitize work surfaces in the Nutrition Room before and after each feeding preparation, including utensils, equipment, and storage areas.
• Calculate new formulations or standardized recipes manually or with software.
• Complete inventory management of formula and human milk.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in applied science with 6 to 12 months of healthcare experience, or
• Bachelor’s degree in an applied science field, or
• Student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in applied science with 2+ years of coursework completed, or
• Nutrition and Dietetic Technician, Registered (NDTR) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, or
• Pharmacy Technician certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills.
