Job summary

Redeemer Brooklyn is seeking an Assistant Pastor of Formation & Community Life to join a fast-growing parish. The role leads community life, spiritual formation, and pastoral care, working with the Senior Pastor to cultivate a culture of discipleship, mission, and care across staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities include shaping community group strategy, preaching 8–10 times per year, leading worship on Sundays, and developing leadership culture with the Diaconate and Session.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of college and a theological degree from an accredited seminary or equivalent.
• Minimum 7-10 years pastoral experience including management of staff.
• Open to teaching elders ordained in the PCA.
• Aligned with Redeemer Brooklyn's vision and Presbyterian Church of America principles.

Responsibilities

• Oversee community group strategy aligned with church vision and mission.
• Collaborate with staff to recruit, equip, mobilize, and train lay leaders.
• Provide pastoral care, coaching and counseling as needed.
• In collaboration with Senior Pastor, develop strategy for spiritual formation and membership oversight.
• Teach cohorts and classes, write weekly community group studies.
• General shepherding and collaboration with staff on pastoral issues.
• Manage and equip staff/interns on the community life team.
• Preach 8-10 times annually and lead worship on Sundays as needed.
• Support development of healthy Diaconate and Session culture; oversee recruitment and training of officers.
