Valmont Industries, Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking a Plant Cleanup candidate for our Coatings Division. You will prepare products for galvanizing, hang items, stage tubular products, and ready small parts for processing.

Responsibilities include plant cleaning, forklift operation, and supporting facilities maintenance. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and a hands-on approach in a busy production environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Move lightweight pieces of steel by hand within plant and yard.
• Overall plant clean-up of exterior and interior bays.
• Assist in housekeeping and clean-up.
• Operate a small forklift.
• Dump hoppers and waste materials.
• Clean yard and dispose debris.
• Assist chemical technician with transitions and additions.
• Facilities maintenance tasks as needed.
• Storm water maintenance and drain cleaning.

Compensation:

1st Shift: $20.50 per hour

A Brief Summary Of This Position:

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Plant Cleanup position in Houston, TX Coatings Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will prepare products and materials for the galvanizing process by hanging angle on spreader bars, staging tubular products, and preparing small parts for galvanizing.

Essential Functions:

• Move lightweight pieces of steel by hand from different locations in the plant and yard.
• Overall plant clean-up (exterior and interior production bays).
• Assist in general plant clean up and housekeeping.
• Ability to operate a small forklift.
• Dump wire hoppers, trash hoppers, and wood hoppers.
• Clean yard and driveways by picking up and disposing dunnage, wire, and other debris.
• Assist chemical technician with transitions and chemical additions.
• Assist with facilities maintenance (i.e. painting, filter changes, furniture moves, pressure washing, etc.).
• Assist with storm water preventions, clean and maintain drains, pump out excess water, etc.
• Work safely, protecting self and others from accident and injury.

Required Qualifications Of Every Candidate:

• The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• The ability to accurately read a tape measure.
• The ability to communicate problems or needs to departmental supervision.
• The ability to lift up to 50 pounds from ground to shoulder height or higher.
• Must be a physically able to stand for long periods of time (length of shift) in open air environment; wear PPE; maintain safe work environment.
• Must have a high awareness for safety at all times.
• Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Six months of previous experience with hand tools and gauges including impact wrenches, air grinders, drills, taps, oxygen acetylene torches, and mill gauges.
• Six months of previous experience operating a bridge crane.
• The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner.
• The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions.
• Certification of heavy equipment operation including forklift.
