Job DetailsJob Location: Houston, TX 77041

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts to move, load, unload, stack, and organize goods and materials in the warehouse. This role requires adherence to safety regulations, operational procedures, and proper material handling to ensure the smooth flow of daily warehouse activities.

This position reports to the Forklift Operator Leader, Shipping Supervisor and the Warehouse Manager.

DESCRIPTION
  • Load and unload goods from trucks, trailers, or containers.
  • Ensure that materials are stacked and organized efficiently to maintain stability and safety.
  • Operate various types of forklifts, such as scissor lifts, gas forklifts, and electric forklifts (if applicable).
  • Ensure the safe and efficient movement of materials within the warehouse.
  • Perform regular safety checks on the forklift, including inspecting brakes, battery, wheels, and overall equipment condition.
  • Report any maintenance issues immediately.
  • Assist with inventory tracking by ensuring materials are stored in the correct locations and organized for easy retrieval.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock movements.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols while operating the forklift.
  • Report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or incidents to the supervisor immediately to ensure a safe working environment.
COMPETENCIES
  • Strong ability to follow instructions precisely, ensuring accuracy in material handling and warehouse organization.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors effectively.
  • Ability to perform tasks efficiently in high-traffic warehouse environments, ensuring productivity without compromising safety.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety standards, ensuring that all tasks are performed with the highest regard for health and safety regulations.
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience operating forklifts, such as gas forklifts.
  • Experience with electric forklifts is a plus.
  • Forklift operator certification or training is required to ensure competency in safe equipment handling.
  • Experience using other warehouse equipment, such as scanners, to assist with inventory and material tracking.
  • Knowledge of load stability techniques to prevent tipping or damage to materials during handling.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of forklifts and material-handling equipment requiring manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Good hearing ability to respond to safety alerts, team communications, and forklift operation sounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is primarily performed on the manufacturing floor, with exposure to loud noises, machinery (including moving equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and scissor lifts), and varying temperatures.
  • There may also be potential exposure to certain chemicals.
  • The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory when on the production floor.
  • Additionally, special PPE shall be worn during certain operations such as face shield during propane tank change-out.
