Job summary

Elgin Recycling Inc. is seeking a Forklift Operator and Metal Processor to safely operate a forklift, sort recyclable metals, and assist customers unloading materials in a busy warehouse environment.

The role is full-time and on-site, with open availability Monday through Friday and Saturdays. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand most of the day, and adapt to varying temperatures. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Follow directions and adapt to new environments.
• Forklift certification required.
• Open availability Mon–Fri, including Saturdays.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred but not required.
• Stand or walk ~90% of the workday; sit ~10%.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder height.
• Good vision, depth perception and hearing for job duties.
• Work in extreme heat and cold conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift as part of material handling duties and complete forklift certification through Elgin Recycling.
• Sort recyclable materials including brass, copper, and aluminum.
• Help customers unload materials and provide friendly, efficient service.
• Develop an understanding of process flow and warehouse procedures; refer questions to supervisor.
• Follow management directions and perform additional duties as assigned.
