Job summary

Logistec in Baytown, TX seeks a heavy forklift operator to handle a 30K forklift for general cargo, including 20' pipe, 20' rebar and steel products in terminal, vessels, trailers, vans, railcars and containers.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, safety checks, proper startup/shutdown, and communicating any issues to supervisors. Requires at least 6 months forklift experience, valid license, TWIC, and willingness to work flexible hours including nights/weekends.

Qualifications

• At least six (6) months of previous experience operating materials handling heavy equipment.
• A valid license with acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with Supervisors and co-workers.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, nights, holidays, and/or weekends as needed.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative.
• An active TWIC Card.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency operating <=30K forklift with at least 6 months experience that includes safety protocols.
• Safe and efficient handling of boxes, crates, pallets, skids, and steel products.
• Operate with diverse attachments to handle different commodities.
• Operate machine in the terminal and/or on the dock.
• Proper startup/shutdown of forklift and safety procedures.
• Proper stacking and loading/unloading loads with care and safety.
• Check equipment per forklift checklist procedures and report issues.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings and ensure cargo is loaded in appropriate container.
