Job summary

TAKKION is seeking a crane and rigging helper to support skilled workers on construction sites in Tipton, Indiana. The role involves daily safety participation, assisting with rigging and lifting tasks, and handling materials and tools to support project progress.

The ideal candidate has strong communication and organization skills, a team-oriented mindset, and experience around heavy equipment or crane operations.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in daily safety meeting.
  • Participate in Job Safety Analysis
  • Assist skilled workers as assigned, including rigging, tagline, spotter duties, carrying lumber and materials.
  • Unloads delivered materials and distributes them as directed by a supervisor or plans.
  • Assists in preparing layout area for lifting, handling, storage, and ground clearing operations.
  • Prepares layout area by measuring, marking, or recording openings or distances.
  • Prepares tools and materials for skilled workers.
  • Cleans and prepares specific areas of the jobsite, including digging trenches and removing debris or hazardous materials.
  • Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Directs traffic near, in, or around work zones.
  • Signals equipment operator to assist with alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery or materials.
  • Performs housekeeping of work area and site location.
  • Performs other job-related duties.

Job description

Job Responsibilities:
  • Participates in daily safety meeting.
  • Participate in Job Safety Analysis
  • Assist skilled workers as assigned. This may include responsibilities such as rigging, tagline duty, spotter duty, carrying lumber and materials.
  • Unloads materials that are delivered such as boxes, pallets, lumber, posts, bags of cement, and other consumables and distributes them to appropriate locations as identified by a supervisor, project plans, or specifications.
  • Assists in preparing layout area where lifting and handling, storage, and ground clearing operations will take place.
  • Prepares layout area where construction will take place by properly measuring, marking, or recording openings or distances.
  • Prepares tools and materials for skilled workers.
  • Cleans and prepares specific areas of jobsite as assigned, this may include digging trenches; cleaning up debris and trash; or removing hazardous materials.
  • Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Directs traffic near, in, or around work zones.
  • Signals equipment operator to assist with alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
  • Performs housekeeping of work area and site location.
  • Performs other job-related duties.
Requirements:

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma preferred
  • At least one year of related crane and rigging field experience preferred.
  • At least one year of experience working around heavy equipment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods in potential extreme weather.
  • Must be able to frequently climb up and down a ladder for heights up to 20 feet while possibly carrying loads.
  • Must be able to enter and exit tight areas for purpose of rigging loads.
  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to work beyond normal operating hours as determined by business demands.
