Job summary

Oak Harbor Freight Lines, Inc. is seeking a Forklift Operator/Dock Worker to safely load/unload trailers and manage shipping paperwork at our California location. The role requires basic English, arithmetic, and prior warehouse or forklift experience.

You’ll adapt to multiple shifts and contribute to reliable, efficient cargo handling in a regional, long-standing carrier environment. This position offers training pathways toward Class A driver qualifications and a clear path to full-time dock

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Basic English language proficiency (reading, writing and verbal).
• Simple arithmetic/measurement skills required.
• High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent strongly preferred.
• Previous warehouse or related experience strongly preferred.
• Forklift experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with tools/equipment (hand truck, pallet jack, dock cart, dock plates, load locks, rope) preferred.
• Experience in an LTL operation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks within timelines.
• Record exceptions in count or condition of shipments to minimize cargo claims.
• Manage paperwork: verify delivery receipts, bills of lading, trailer manifests, and loading instructions.
• Regroup shipments as needed.
• Meet the Company's reliability standard for employees.
• Be available to work various shifts to accommodate business needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Safely load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks within specified timelines.
• Responsible for noting and recording exception in count or condition of shipments to minimize cargo claims.
• Management of paperwork: i.e., check of accuracy and completion of delivery receipts, bills of lading, trailer manifests, counting freight, accuracy of hazardous material shipments, special loading, and handling instructions.
• Responsible for regrouping shipments as needed.
• Ability to meet the Company's reliability standard for employees.
• Availability to work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be at least 18 years old.
