Job summary

The Simplot Company in Ontario, United States, is seeking an experienced forklift operator to handle pallets of dry goods and maintain accurate inventory records. You will perform weight checks, support quality sampling, and assist in training colleagues in safe handling of equipment.

Shift runs 6:00am–6:00pm with pay at $22.62/hour. You will be part of a hands-on operations team ensuring safe, efficient material movement and accurate stock reporting at the GF Plant in Ontario.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
• Must obtain and maintain a valid Lift Truck endorsement within 30 days.
• Ability to read simple instructions and write basic notes.
• Demonstrate basic math and measurement skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift to deliver, stack and unstack pallets of dry goods and supplies.
• Record and count stock delivered or received for inventory accuracy.
• Weigh materials and record weights on tags or schedules as required.
• Assist in training other plant personnel as directed.
• Perform required quality checks and sampling.
• Notify personnel of equipment breakdowns and assist in repairs.
• Support in battery changes and propane tank filling as needed.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Summary

Operates electric and/ or gas-powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, boom, scoop, or elevating platform, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move finished products, equipment, or dry supply materials by performing the following duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate forklift to deliver, stack and unstack pallets of dry goods and supplies, finished or toted product recording item and count of stock delivered or received.
• Perform physical finished product inventory as required.
• Record/track held product and other product that is shuttled to and from Americold.
• Weigh materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules as required.
• Supply operations employees will work in process materials as required.
• Change or assist in the changing of batteries or filling Propane tanks.
• Occasionally stack finished cases and removed damaged cases as required.
• Participate in the training and development of others as necessary or directed.
• Perform required quality checks and sampling.
• Notify appropriate personnel of equipment breakdown.
• Will assist in training other plant personnel.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Required Certifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid equipment operator’s license with a Lift Truck and platform/Scissor Lift endorsement within 30 days of starting the bid.
• Must demonstrate qualification through a job skill evaluation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, conversion of fractions, decimals, and percentages, and basic mechanical principles).
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
