As a Warehouse Team Member specializing in forklift operation within our food manufacturing company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient and safe movement of materials and products within our warehouse and/or manufacturing facility.
Shift: 3rd shift, 10:00pm – 6:30am, Monday – Friday (some overtime required). Compensation: hourly wage $24.88 + shift differential $1.50 per hour.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to load, unload, and move materials as per organizational requirements.
- Pre‑operational checks of forklifts to ensure proper functioning.
- Transport materials to designated storage areas or production lines per work orders.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records by recording incoming and outgoing materials.
- Perform periodic physical counts to reconcile discrepancies and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
- Support warehouse operations: picking, packing, labeling, and general tasks as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse area to promote a safe working environment.
- Handle materials with care to prevent damage or contamination in a food manufacturing environment.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
- Report quality issues, safety hazards, or non‑compliance incidents to supervisors immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Preferred: previous experience in food manufacturing or similar production environment.
- Proven forklift operation experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.
- Must be able to obtain forklift certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations (FSA, USDA) and quality assurance practices (GMPs).
- Ability to operate equipment and machinery safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to forklift operation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50lb).
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Frequent exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness, poor lighting, noise, and vibration. Seasonal exposure to extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity. Daily exposure to mechanical hazards, forklifts, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, fire and explosive hazards, communicable diseases. Requires standing, walking, lifting up to 50lb, and use of fine dexterity, reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting.
