Job summary

Surlean Foods is seeking a reliable forklift operator to move materials within the warehouse, load and unload trailers, and maintain equipment. You will perform pre/post inspections, read labels and numbers, and work in a fast-paced processing environment with loud conditions.

This role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and strong teamwork. A high school diploma is preferred; forklift certification is a plus. Safety and reliability are essential in daily duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Certification in operating forklifts is an advantage.
• Ability to read labels and numbers and perform basic math as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate industrial forklift to move materials between unloading, processing, loading, and storage areas.
• Organize and secure stored materials such as boxes and pallets.
• Load or unload materials manually onto pallets, platforms, skids, or lifting devices.
• Perform routine pre- and post-inspections of forklift to ensure safe operation.
• Report damaged equipment or safety hazards to supervisor.
• Weigh products or materials and record information on labels and tags.
• Complete forklift operator training provided by Surlean.
• Perform other duties as allotted by supervisor.

Job description

Purpose:

Operates the equipped industrial forklift to move materials in the warehouse region and to load and unload truck trailers or shipping containers. Operators maintain the equipment, machines, and electrical components.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Moving controls, devices, and levers to drive forklifts of industry to transfer materials between unloading, processing, loading, and storage areas.
• Organizing and securing stored materials such as boxes, pallets, and so on.
• Loading or unloading materials manually, off or on to pallets, platforms, skids, or lifting devises.
• Performing routine post and pre inspections to ensure suitable working nature or forklift equipment.
• Reporting to Supervisor regarding any damage to faulty equipment or any other safety hazards.
• Weighing products or materials, and recording weight and further production information on label and tags.
• Completing forklift operator training provided by Surlean.
• Performing other duties as allotted by supervisor.

Working Conditions:

Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties.
Work conditions vary, quitting time will vary based upon production needs, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 30 to 110 degrees in processing departments. Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment are present in the plant. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical, hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick. Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 50 lbs., and to stand for long periods of time.
