Job summary

Abbott in Columbus, Ohio is hiring a Plant Utility in the Nutrition Division. The role supports Plant Material Control and Columbus Distribution Center functions, including receiving, loading/unloading, BOLs, and shipping office tasks, while upholding GMP, safety and quality standards.

Shifts are 1st shift, Thursday to Sunday, 7:00 am–5:30 pm (4 x 10-hour days). A high school diploma or GED and forklift experience with certification are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of experience using forklifts.
• Forklift certified.
• 6+ months of job experience within distribution center warehousing operations.
• Experience with tools and equipment related to the position (hand tools, full body harness, sit-down forklift, stand up pick vehicle, computer knowledge).

• In-depth knowledge of receiving/warehouse operations and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Receiving Operations: document, data entry, and safe processing of inbound pallets in WMS.
• Loading, Unloading, Case picking, Labelling, High-Stacking, and Palletizer operations with safety and accuracy.
• Shipping/Receiving Office Functions: release orders, maintain documentation and data accuracy, sign-off on BOLs.
• General functions: clean GMP areas, support CI program, assist management as needed.

Overview Of Role

The Utility is responsible for having a thorough working knowledge of all Plant Material Control and Columbus Distribution Center (CDC) job functions. Should have knowledge of applicable departmental equipment and systems. Some examples include : Forklift, Cambar, HK Systems, TTMS, AMAPS, MITS, and AES. The Utility is responsible for line support, receiving, loading, unloading, creating bills of lading (BOL’s), case picking, assuming computer room responsibilities as needed, performing full functionality in the Shipping Office, while maintaining compliance to all GMP, safety, and quality guidelines. This position involves the ability to successfully and safely operate a yard tractor. Also may involve some performance of preventative maintenance (i.e. monitor and respond to Plant and CDC automation systems and equipment. Must meet all safety and housekeeping requirements. Must have the ability and leadership to cover for Crew Leaders when needed.

What You’ll Do

Receiving Operations :

• Creates very accurate & legible documentation, performs data entry accurately, maintains all applicable systems with needed information, and safely and efficiently process inbound pallets through the proper unloading process, including ensuring inventory is accurate when receiving product in to the WMS system (i.e. verifies the SKU, quantity, and lot number at each touch point)

Loading, Unloading, Case picking, Labelling, High-Stacking, and Palletizer Operations :

• Performs all tasks safely, assures accurate documentation and inventory accuracy at all touch points (i.e. verifies the SKU, quantity, and lot number at each touch point), follows all process procedures / guidelines, assures trailers are loaded to meet weight requirements, and performs all tasks in a safe and efficient manner to meet the needs of the business. This includes safely operating the palletizer equipment and shuttle wagon/switcher to meet business needs.

Shipping/Receiving Office Functions :

• Release orders from CAMBAR in a timely manner, assure all documentation is accurate, address people in a professional manner, assure all databases are accurately maintained with timely entries, assure BOL's are signed/dated by Common Carrier Driver and the Clerk during the shift.

General functions :

• Cleans up finished goods warehouse areas to GMP standards and supports the master sanitation program of the department
• Supports the Departments Continuous Improvement Program, including root cause analysis
• All other tasks as assigned by management to meet the needs of the business.

The base pay for this position is $15.80 – $31.60 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
