Job summary

Pratt in Warner Robins, GA is seeking a forklift operator responsible for safe operation and care of forklifts. You will inspect equipment, locate stock, and ensure timely delivery to machines while maintaining organized storage and accurate records.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with preferred experience in corrugated or forklift operations, plus the ability to read and follow instructions and perform basic measurements.

Responsibilities

• Operate and care for forklift safely; qualified to operate forklift.
• Complete and document forklift inspection forms before shift and for new forklifts; submit maintenance requests as needed.
• Locate stock before start of run and deliver stock to machines on time.
• Maintain neat, safe stock storage and accurate stock location via paperwork and computer.
• Maximize equipment utilization by operating at capacity and speed and follow daily production schedule.
• Assist other forklift operators and back up Shipping Lead Person as needed.
• Complete reports such as Production Data, Machine Status, Safety Data, and Quality Data.
• Follow company policies including safety and housekeeping; other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the forklift.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operation and care of forklift in a safe manner. Must be qualified to properly operate the forklift.
• Complete and document a forklift inspection form before start of shift and when operating a new forklift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
• Locate stock before the start of the run.
• Deliver appropriate stock to appropriate machines safely and on time.
• Remove finished goods from machines.
• Maintain neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in storage areas.
• Complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintain accurate location of stock in storage area by paperwork and computer.
• Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
• Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.
• Assist other forklift operators as necessary and is backup to Shipping Lead Person.
• Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
• Additional duties may be assigned by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED.

Candidates arePREFERREDwho offer the following:

Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.

Prior work experience as a forklift operator.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:

• Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation
• Product layouts and production specifications
• Product quality specifications
• Quality standards

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
