Job summary

XPO Logistics Freight Inc. is seeking a Forklift Operator to join our dock team in Shreveport, LA. You will load and unload freight, operate forklifts and pallet jacks, and ensure secure, accurate handling of shipments.

Applicants must be 18+ with basic math skills and be able to work varied shifts including nights and weekends. We offer comprehensive benefits, day-one health coverage, PTO, holidays, a 401(k) match, and education assistance.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations, with or without a calculator.
• Available to work various shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends).
• Preferred: dock/warehouse experience in transportation; forklift experience in LTL; experience loading/unloading trailers.

Responsibilities

• Sort, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight efficiently.
• Operate motorized and manual equipment including pallet jack and forklift.
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools.
• Work safely and follow company safety policies.
• Use handheld devices to scan and track shipments.
• Work on a dock not climate-controlled for extended periods.

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

• Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry
• Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment
• Experience loading and unloading trailers
• Strong attention to detail and desire to succeed

About the Forklift Operator job

Pay, benefits and more:

• Pay starts at $22.27hour
• FAC ONLY : Additional $1.80/hour shift premium for nights
• FAC Shift, Day/Hours: M-F 10PM - 7AM

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight
• Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies
• Work in a safe, efficient manner, adhering to company safety policies
• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments
• Work on a dock that is not climate-controlled for extended periods

Forklift Operators are required to:

• Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 70 lbs.)
• Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary
