Overview

Forklift Operator safely operates industrial trucks to load, unload, stack, and transport.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift, ensuring the safety harness is securely worn while operating the equipment.
• Load/unload trucks; secure all pallets accurately and move to and from designated areas of the facility.
• Move parts and other materials around the facility using pallets and crates.
• Stack loads in correct storage bays, following inventory‑control instructions.
• Place parts into inventory.
• Perform daily pre‑operation inspections (fluids, tires) and report mechanical issues.
• Read and understand packaging, shipping documents, and safety guidelines.
• Assume other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED (Preferred).
• Prior forklift experience.
• Prior automotive experience.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic oral communication; may write brief messages and keep simple records.
• Problem solving limited to simple, repetitive tasks; follow standard procedures with no decision‑making involved.
• Uses guidance/guidelines provided by supervisor/manager; assignments/priorities provided by supervisor/manager.

Physical Demands

• Occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods.
• May be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment; must work in cramped spaces or beneath vehicles that may require awkward positions; may regularly wear PPE; may be exposed to extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
• Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds; on occasion, may lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
