American Timber and Steel Co., Inc. is seeking a reliable Forklift Operator to join our team. This hands-on role supports daily operations with a strong emphasis on safety and accuracy in material handling.

You will operate heavy equipment, load and unload, verify documents, and stage materials. The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and working outdoors year-round; lumber yard or mill experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience operating heavy equipment, specifically rough terrain forklifts.
• Experience in lumber yard or mill preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy rough terrain forklift per policy and OSHA regulations.
• Load, unload, move and stack materials as directed.
• Verify load contents against documents for accuracy.
• Stage materials to support efficient workflow and minimize disruption.
• Assist with cycle counts and inventories as required.
• Identify and report damaged, mislabeled, or incorrectly stored product to a supervisor.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisor.

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Forklift Operator to join our team. This role is hands-on, physical and requires attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the flow of daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklift in accordance with company policy and OSHA regulations
• Load, Unload, move and stack materials and products as directed
• Verify load contents against documents such as purchase orders, bills of lading, or pick tickets to ensure accuracy
• Stage materials in designated areas to support efficient workflow and minimize disruption to operations
• Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories as required
• Identify and report damaged, mislabeled, or incorrectly stored product to a supervisor
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisor

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Heavy Equipment Operator experience is desired, we operate large rough terrain forklifts, not a standard warehouse forklift
• Previous experience working a lumber yard or mill is preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods of time,and perform repetitive physical tasks
• Must be a dependable team player with a proactive work ethic
• Must be comfortable working outside in any climate throughout the year
