Job summary

Silgan Containers in Maxton, NC is seeking a forklift operator to support production and shipping/receiving by operating various forklifts, including sit-down and other models.

The role requires forklift driving experience and certification (or ability to obtain it). You will load trucks, move materials, assist inventory, and help prepare orders for shipment in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months to 2 years forklift driving experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
• Ability to demonstrate forklift driving experience and pass certification test if not already certified.

Responsibilities

• Load trucks with finished sheet metal.
• Load cut sheet material onto platforms for dispatch through the manufacturing lines.
• Prepare finished goods for transfer to other departments.
• Remove coil loads and other materials from trucks as they are delivered.
• Transport unfinished and finished product throughout the plant and supply the production lines with raw materials.
• Empty scrap tubs of metal waste.
• Assist in taking inventory and prepare orders for shipment as needed.

Essential Job Functions

Job Requirements

• Ability to demonstrate forklift driving experience and pass the certification test if not already certified

Experience/Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in a manufacturing facility
• 6 months-2 years of forklift driving work experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to kneel, stoop, crawl, squat, and stand for extended period, while running machinery up to 12 hours
• Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
