Job summary

BWT Logistics is seeking a safety-minded Forklift Operator to support daily warehouse operations in Hammond, LA. You will load, unload, and move materials using sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks, ensuring accuracy with bonded import/export cargo and documentation.

Responsibilities include verifying shipments, maintaining inventory with handheld scanners and the WMS, and performing routine inspections. This full-time role offers day shifts, overtime and travel as needed, with benefits after 90

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years forklift operating experience.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Able to pass a criminal background check per CBP and TSA.

Responsibilities

• Operate sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks to load, unload, transport, and stack materials within the warehouse.
• Safely maneuver equipment in narrow aisles, tight spaces, and congested work areas while following all safety procedures.
• Load and offload trailers and containers.
• Handle bonded import and export cargo and maintain required documentation.
• Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against purchase orders and delivery documents.
• Report damaged items, discrepancies, or safety concerns to management.
• Maintain accurate inventory records using handheld scanners and the WMS system.
• Perform routine forklift inspections and report mechanical or safety issues.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including housekeeping duties.
• Assist with additional warehouse duties as assigned.
• Work overtime and travel to different local warehouse locations when business needs require.

Position Summary

The Forklift Operator is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations through the safe and efficient operation of sit-down forklifts and other material-handling equipment. This role plays a critical part in loading, unloading, storing, and moving materials, including bonded import and export cargo. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and able to work effectively in a team-oriented warehouse environment.

• $18.00 per hour
