Job summary

XPO Logistics Freight Inc. is seeking a Forklift Operator in Chicopee, MA.

The role involves efficiently handling palletized and non-palletized freight on a dock, using forklift and pallet jack, and ensuring secure loading and unloading practices on a climate-controlled or non-climate-controlled dock as needed. The position requires physical work, basic math, and flexibility to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Able to perform basic math calculations, with or without a calculator.
• Willing to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
• Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry preferred.
• Forklift experience in a freight or LTL environment preferred.
• Experience loading and unloading trailers preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and drive to succeed.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight.
• Use pallet jack and forklift to move goods.
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies.
• Work safely and efficiently, following company safety policies; use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments.
• Work on a dock that may be not climate-controlled for extended periods.

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Preferred qualifications:

• Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry
• Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment
• Experience loading and unloading trailers
• Strong attention to detail and desire to succeed

Pay, benefits and more:

• Expected pay range: $26.05 to $32.04 per hour. Pay is on an annual step progression. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight
• Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies
• Work in a safe, efficient manner, adhering to company safety policiesUse mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments
• Work on a dock that is not climate-controlled for extended periods

Forklift Operators are required to:

• Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 70 lbs.)
• Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary
