UFP Industries, Inc. in Granger, IN, is seeking a Forklift Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain forklifts and related material-handling equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation.

Job Summary The Forklift Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining forklifts and other material handling equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, knowledge of hydraulic systems, and a commitment to workplace safety.
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on electric, propane, diesel, and gasoline-powered forklifts. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic system issues. Repair or replace defective components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and hydraulic equipment. Conduct preventive maintenance according to manufacturer specifications. Troubleshoot battery systems, chargers, and electrical controls on electric forklifts. Complete safety inspections and ensure equipment complies with company and regulatory standards. Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and parts inventory documentation. Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs as needed. Order and manage replacement parts and supplies. Operate diagnostic tools and testing equipment to identify problems. Follow all OSHA and company safety policies and procedures. Provide recommendations for equipment replacement or major repairs.
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities. Knowledge of electrical diagnostics and repair. Attention to detail and accuracy. Time management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely.
High school diploma Minimum 1 year of experience in machine repair in maintenance Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations Demonstrate working knowledge of hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices Must be at least 18 years of age
