Job summary

WKW North America in Pell City, AL 35125 is seeking a Production Materials Handler to move raw materials, packaging, carts and finished goods to and from work cells as directed by the team. You will read daily production schedules, verify part numbers, and ensure correct materials are available for the line.

Job Details

Job Location: WKW Main Plant - Pell City, AL 35125

Salary Range: $19.00 - $20.00 Hourly

Transports materials, to include raw material, packaging, carts, racks, finished goods, and other materials needed for production to and from work cells or storage areas as needed by the department Team Leader or Supervisor.

Duties to include but not limited to:
  • Work in safe manner wearing PPE and providing input to team leader/supervisor of any unsafe items or practices.
  • Work as part of a team performing any variety of operations within the group to maintain flow of work.
  • Follow processes and departmental procedures associated with the Production area.
  • Able to read and follow a daily production schedule to ensure correct materials are available to the work area.
  • Fill out daily checklist at beginning of operation and every hour afterwards/or as required.
  • Compare Confirmation Sheets and material tickets to verify correct material is used at workstations.
  • Examine material, verify parts numbers and check discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts.
  • Ensure that parts are always properly identified with the correct part labels.
  • Perform layered audit and quality checks as required.
  • Monitor production flow. Track good parts, scrap and rework on tracking sheets/production boards every hour as required.
  • Handle scrap and rework parts according to work instructions.
  • Material handling functions as required. Will operate a pallet jack and forklift as necessary. Will deliver material to and from workstations as required to maintain production.
  • Required to do training of new employees when instructed.
  • Write production reports as needed.
  • Must adhere to all TS16949 policies/guidelines/etc.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Ensure 5-S is adhered to properly.

  • Must be able to properly use quality gages.
  • Must have basic computer skills and be able to do data entry using a computer system.
  • Must have Mechanical Skills to operate equipment and hand tools.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical demands
  • Frequently required to walk.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time performing repetitive movements.
  • Must be able to spot visual defects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Occasionally required use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; squat; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear effectively.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to safely operate a forklift.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the Associate occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
