Job summary

Pratt Industries, Inc. in Rockwall, TX is seeking a Forklift Driver for the 3rd shift to safely operate and care for forklifts, handle stock, and support production activities. You must be able to inspect equipment, locate stock, and deliver materials to machines on schedule.

Responsibilities include maintaining organized stock areas, completing accurate paperwork, and upholding safety and housekeeping standards. A Lift Truck Operator License is required, with overtime as needed.

• Required to obtain and maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

Responsibilities

• Operate and care for forklift in a safe manner. Must be qualified to properly operate the forklift.
• Complete forklift inspections before shift start and when using a new forklift; turn in maintenance work orders.
• Locate stock before the start of the run.
• Deliver appropriate stock to machines safely and on time.
• Remove finished goods from machines.
• Maintain neat, safe stacks of stock in storage areas.
• Complete necessary paperwork accurately and timely.
• Maintain accurate stock location by paperwork and computer.
• Maximize equipment utilization by operating at capacity and speed.
• Adhere to daily production schedule and suggest improvements to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals.
• Assist other forklift operators and back up Shipping Lead Person.
• Complete required reports including Production Data, Machine Status, Safety Data, Quality Data.

REPORTS TO: Shipping Manager

• Job Type: Full Time
• Pay: $21.89 + shift differential
• 3rd Shift Availability 11:30pm - 7:30am (will be asked to work Overtime as needed)

SUMMARY:

Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the forklift.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operation and care of forklift in a safe manner. Must be qualified to properly operate the forklift.
• Complete and document a forklift inspection form before start of shift and when operating a new forklift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
• Locate stock before the start of the run.
• Deliver appropriate stock to appropriate machines safely and on time.
• Remove finished goods from machines.
• Maintain neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in storage areas.
• Complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintain accurate location of stock in storage area by paperwork and computer.
• Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
• Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.
• Assist other forklift operators as necessary and is backup to Shipping Lead Person.
• Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
• Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:

• Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
• Prior work experience as a forklift operator.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
• Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
• Able to apply concepts of high school math.

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:
• Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
• Product layouts and production specifications
• Product quality specifications
• Quality standards

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Required to obtain and maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
