Job summary

Fresh Express Salads is seeking a Warehouse/ forklift operator to move material within the facility, load and ship finished goods, and ensure accurate order preparation. The role requires operating a forklift or pallet jack, stacking and wrapping pallets, and adhering to safety procedures in a cold, wet environment.

Responsibilities include handling boxes up to 70 pounds, using Vocollect Hands Free systems, and maintaining certification. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be able to manually lift up to 70 pounds from floor to chest height.
• Must be able to lift boxes weighing up to 20 pounds from pallet height to 92 inches.
• Carry boxes weighing up to 20 pounds over short distances.
• Operate electric forklift or pallet jack to move loaded skids for distances up to ~200 feet.
• Constant standing on cement; occasional uneven surfaces.
• Frequent walking on cement; occasional uneven surfaces in trailers.

Responsibilities

• Transport product using forklift or pallet jack to trailers or loading areas.
• Report damaged cases and discrepancies to supervisor.
• Assist in maintenance and cleanup of warehouse and trailers.

Job description

The Forklift Operator associate may be asked to perform shipping, receiving, or inventory functions as needed. Generally, this position is responsible for using a forklift, walker or hand jack to move materials within the warehouse, which may include raw product, dry goods, or finished goods. This position is responsible for following proper procedures for product rotation and flow through the warehouse. The incumbent is also responsible for all documents and procedures required for this function.

Job Function Statements Essential Functions

• Inspect equipment for defects before and after use and submit vehicle inspection report on all PIT equipment used during their shift.
• Operate equipment in a safe, controlled manner to complete all job functions.
• Use "Vocollect Hands Free" equipment to receive, load, and fill the order accurately in preparation for prompt shipping or dispensing to individual customers.
• Manually lift and stack boxes of finished product on order and place product onto a pallet carefully while identifying information and quantities.
• High degree of attention to detail and accuracy required to perform job function.
• Manually stretch wrap product stacked on a pallet for shipping.
• Operate electric forklift or pallet jack to transport product in warehouse to trailer.
• Manually lift pallet from stack and place on the floor as required.
• Report damaged cases and case discrepancies to supervisor.
• Assist in general maintenance and cleanup of warehouse and trailers.
• Must maintain proper certification to operate power equipment.
• Use "Vocollect Hands Free" equipment to receive and put product away throughout the various warehouses.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications/Skills

• Manually lift up to 70 pounds from 92 inches or below to floor level.
• Manually lift boxes of product weighing up to 20 pounds from 5 inches (pallet) up to 92 inches.
• Carry boxes of product weighing up to 20 pounds short distances.
• Operate electric forklift or pallet jack to push and pull loaded skids or product a distance or approximately 100 200 feet with 20 75 pounds of force.
• Constant standing on cement and occasional standing on uneven surfaces of trailer floor.
• Frequent walking short to moderate distances on cement and occasional walking on uneven surfaces of trailer floor.
• Constant forward reaching.
• Constant grasping and handling electric forklift handle.
• Constant grasping and lifting of boxes of product (1 to 8 boxes at a time).
• Frequent overhead reaching to height of 92 inches to manually stack product inside of trailer.
• Frequent bending, stooping and squatting.
• Occasional twisting of lumbar spine.
• Occasional statically holding of arms in overhead position to secure and stretch wrap product.
• The maximum weight required to lift in this area is 70 pounds which classifies this job as Heavy by the Department of Labor and Industry (pallet weight 70 pounds).
• Must be able to work in cold (34 degrees F) and wet environment.
