Position Summary

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating industrial power trucks to move, stack, and count merchandise. The operator must ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle, support order filling and checking duties, and accurately manage the storage, shipping, and receiving of products to meet company safety, security, and productivity standards.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Receiving/Put-Away: Unload inbound shipments safely, move product to storage, and input data accurately into WMS.
• Efficiently stack and store product in appropriate areas.
• Maintain an organized work area.
• Order Picking: Pull and prepare accurate shipments, ensuring correct quantity and type.
• Perform picking duties efficiently to meet customer service standards.
• Prepare freight for operations accurately and timely.
• Quality: Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage; report quality variances.
• Delivery: Move product from staging or storage to production lines or staging docks efficiently; ensure proper documentation accompanies freight.
• Inventory: Keep accurate records to maintain inventory control and security; assist in physical inventories and stock rotation.
• Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance: Maintain a clean, orderly work area and assist the security of the warehouse; comply with SOPs, corporate and site-specific policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS standards.
• Participate in safety meetings.
• Equipment Operation: Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product using a forklift, clamp truck, drum attachment, or other power equipment; maintain equipment in a neat, clean state; inspect and perform minor maintenance daily; operate all equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain active forklift certification.
• Maintenance: Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.

Other Duties (Site Specific)

• Change forklift fuel tanks as needed.
• Participate in physical inventories; perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking.
• Repair pallets and trailers as requested.
• Help maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Minimum Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 6 months experience in a logistics or distribution environment.
• Operating MHE proficiency.
• Completion of a forklift training program.

Skills, Knowledge And Abilities

• Basic computer skills.
• Use of RF scanners.
• Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and related tasks.
• English reading, writing, verbal communication.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
• Adaptability to change and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
• 1-2 years forklift experience.
• Current or prior MHE certification.
