Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking a forklift operator in Plano, TX to participate in shipping/receiving, inventory control and safe material handling. The role requires operating a forklift, performing pre-shift safety checks, and moving products to staging areas with attention to safety and accuracy.

The position offers full-time hours with the possibility of overtime on short notice, paid vacation and holidays, benefits enrollment within 30 days, and a 401(k) with company

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift or clamp truck safely and efficiently.
• Perform daily safety inspections and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Move product from truck to staging area and balance workload across warehouses.
• Pull and stage orders, document inventory tags, and assist with shipping/receiving.
• Support other material handlers to balance workloads and keep areas organized.
• Note any obvious defects in incoming material and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift or clamp truck safely and efficiently.
• Maintain and perform daily safety inspections of the forklift or clamp truck and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Perform lockout/ tag out procedures on trailers.
• Adheres to all safety and work rules, company policies and procedures.
• Operates wrapping equipment when necessary.
• Maintain inventory integrity through proper handling, documentation, and storage.
• Responsible for pulling job for production, inbound forms, inventory tags and counts on materials received or shipped.
• Ensure that the product is moved from the truck to the staging area in a safe and efficient manner.
• Pick and stage orders, safely and efficiently.
• Assists other shipping and receiving material handlers to balance the workload, organize warehouses, and perform general cleaning.
• Alert to any obvious defects of incoming material.
• Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma/ GED.
• 6+ months prior experience operating a forklift or clamp truck.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice, both during the week and weekends.
• MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR ANY SHIFT, WILLING TO WORK THE FIRST, SECOND, OR THIRD SHIFT, AS ASSIGNED.
• Ability to work in manufacturing environment, with varying temperatures based on season, around machinery, and heavy forklift traffic.
• Ability to obtain and maintain PCA certified forklift license.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, effectively communicating with members.

Compensation And Benefits

• Starting salary for position: $23.00 per hour.
• Bonus: Annual - Based upon achievement of plant performance metrics.
• Paid Vacation: 2 days of vacation after 6 months. 1 week of vacation after 1 year, 1 week plus pro-rated vacation during the second year. 2 weeks on the January 1st following 2 full years of employment.
• Paid Holidays.
• Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision -- and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
• Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
