Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) in Plano, Texas, a Fortune 500 company, is seeking a forklift operator to support our shipping and warehouse operations.

You will perform safety inspections, operate forklift or clamp truck, pull and stage orders, maintain inventory integrity, and assist teammates. Overtime, all shifts available, and advancement opportunities.

Starting wage is $23.00 per hour, with paid vacation, holidays, and a 401(k) with company matching; PCA offers comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6+ months forklift or clamp truck experience.
• Willing to work overtime on short notice.
• Able to work any shift (First/Second/Third) as assigned.
• Must be able to obtain PCA forklift license.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift or clamp truck safely and efficiently.
• Maintain and perform daily safety inspections of the forklift or clamp truck.
• Perform lockout/tag out procedures on trailers.
• Adhere to safety rules, policies, and procedures.
• Operate wrapping equipment when necessary.
• Maintain inventory integrity through proper handling, documentation and storage.
• Pull and stage orders for production, inbound forms, inventory tags and counts.
• Ensure product is moved from truck to staging area safely and efficiently.
• Pick and stage orders, safely and efficiently.
• Assist other shipping and receiving material handlers to balance workload and maintain cleanliness.
• Alert to obvious defects of incoming material.
• Other duties may be assigned at any time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate a forklift or clamp truck safely and efficiently.
• Maintain and perform daily safety inspections of the forklift or clamp truck and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Perform lockout/ tag out procedures on trailers.
• Adheres to all safety and work rules, company policies and procedures.
• Operates wrapping equipment when necessary.
• Maintain inventory integrity through proper handling, documentation, and storage.
• Responsible for pulling job for production, inbound forms, inventory tags and counts on materials received or shipped.
• Ensure that the product is moved from the truck to the staging area in a safe and efficient manner.
• Pick and stage orders, safely and efficiently.
• Assists other shipping and receiving material handlers to balance the workload, organize warehouses, and perform general cleaning.
• Alert to any obvious defects of incoming material.
• Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma/GED.
• 6+ month’s prior experience operating a forklift or clamp truck.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice, both during the week and weekends.
• MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR ANY SHIFT, WILLING TO WORK THE FIRST, SECOND, OR THIRD SHIFT, AS ASSIGNED.
• Ability to work in manufacturing environment, with varying temperatures based on season, around machinery, and heavy forklift traffic.
• Ability to obtain and maintain PCA certified forklift license.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, effectively communicating with members.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Starting salary for position: $23.00 per hour.
• Bonus: Annual – Based upon achievement of plant performance metrics.
• Paid Vacation: 2 days of vacation after 6 months. 1 week of vacation after 1 year, 1 week plus pro-rated vacation during the second year. 2 weeks on the January 1st following 2 full years of employment.
