Responsibilities

• Operate the forklift safely and attentively around pedestrians.
• Load and unload goods from vehicles.
• Move materials on pallets or in crates around the facility.
• Stack goods in correct storage locations following inventory instructions.
• Check that loads are secure before movement.
• Stack empty pallets when needed.
• Perform daily equipment checks (oil, battery, propane, lubrication).
• Dispose trash from hopper and maintain clean work area.

Job description

Title: Fork Lift Operator

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan

For this position, sponsorship would not be available now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Operating the truck in a safe manner always watching out for pedestrians.
• Loading and unloading goods from vehicles such as trucks.
• Moving materials packed on pallets or in crates around the facility
• Stacking goods in the correct storage locations, following inventory control instructions
• Checking loads are secure
• Stacking empty pallets
• Performing daily equipment checks such as oil levels, propane tanks, the truck’s battery and lubricating equipment
• Empty trash hopper into waste receptacles located outside.
• Dumping materials into machine hoppers

Qualifications

• 1+ years proven experience as forklift operator
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Good eye-hand-foot coordination
• Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required
• High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment
• Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records
• Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
• Maintain a clean & safe environment
• Forklift certification per OSHA standards
• Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly sitting on a powered industrial truck
  • Frequently lifting to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
  • Having a good sense of balance
  • Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
  • Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
  • Abilityto work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
