Job summary

The Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (NDCNR) seeks a Forestry Program Manager to oversee statewide wildland fire suppression, prevention, and resource management across Nevada. You will coordinate with federal, state, and local partners, manage MAFFS aircraft operations, and align programs with division policies.

The role requires extensive firefighting experience, supervisory ability, and strong budgeting and grant-writing skills to secure external funding and support

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in forestry, natural resources management or closely related field and four years firefighting experience including coordinating fire management programs; supervisory experience included.
• Alternative: high school diploma with six years firefighting experience and two years supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, coordinate statewide fire management programs and projects.
• Confer with regional staff to determine program effectiveness and ensure policy compliance.
• Develop and implement program goals in line with division mission and budgets.
• Investigate and pursue external funding sources and grant proposals.
• Supervise and evaluate subordinate personnel and maintain performance standards.
• Coordinate operations with federal, state, and local authorities to achieve common goals.
• Represent the division at meetings with city councils, counties, and state agencies.
• Prepare analytical, narrative and statistical reports on program activities.
