Forest County Potawatomi Community is seeking a Forestry leader to oversee timber harvesting on tribal lands and secure all necessary BIA permits for tree removal on the reservation.
You will manage Tribal member services through the Forestry Department, develop a reservation-wide Forest Management Plan, and ensure grant funds and contracts are properly executed. You will also monitor staff performance and act as a mentor and ethical role model.
Oversees all timber harvesting on Tribal lands
Obtains all Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) permits necessary for tree removal on the reservation
Manages the Tribal member services offered through the Forestry Department
Develops and implements a reservation-wide Forest Management Plan
Ensures all grant funds, contracts, and agreements are properly executed
Monitors departmental employee effectiveness through recognition, coaching, counseling, skill advancement, performance evaluation, and corrective action
Serves as a mentor, coach, and positive role model for ethical behavior
Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry
Ten (10) years of experience in practical forestry management and program administration
Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens
Knowledge of BIA forestry policies and regulations preferred
Sustainably Forestry Initiative (SAF) certified, or Society of American Forester (SAF) certified, preferred
Basic Background and Drug Screen (National Federal Criminal, State Criminal, County Criminal, National Sex Offender, Education Verification, Previous Employment Verification)
