Job summary

Manulife Financial in the United States is seeking a Forestry/Resource Manager to support timber harvesting operations in Nacogdoches, TX. The role includes planning, budgeting, silviculture prescriptions, and coordinating with contractors, agencies and support teams.

You will update inventory software, analyze market data, and promote sustainable forestry practices while working in a hybrid environment. A Bachelor's in Forestry and 2+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years forest management experience is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable with company’s commercial carrier.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and ArcGIS.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn and apply key financial concepts to business decisions.
  • Must be a great teammate and have strong communication
  • Client service oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Asset protection, working with consultants, contractors and state agencies to minimize losses.
  • Collaborate with hunters and recreational users to ensure license compliance and non-timber revenue.
  • Participate in special projects to broaden skills.
  • Implement SFI objectives and standards.
  • Gather and analyze market intelligence to help resolve prices with area mills.
  • Build and maintain relationships with contractors and MFM personnel in other areas.

Position Responsibilities
  • Assisting delivered timber harvesting operations including planning, harvest layout, contract administration, timber security, quality inspections and reporting.

  • Developing site specific silviculture prescriptions, planning, budgeting, and implementing all applicable operations.

  • Administering local reforestation programs to ensure successful plantations are reestablished that meet or exceed growth expectations.

  • Update inventory and mapping software in conjunction with resource support personnel.

  • Asset protection, working with external consultants, contractors and state agency personnel to ensure casualty losses are minimized.

  • Work with HFM Recreational License Administrators, hunters, and other recreational users to ensure license compliance and improve non-timber revenue.

  • Participate in special projects to add diversity and broaden skills.

  • Implement Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®) objectives and standards.

  • Gather and analyze market intelligence to help resolve prices with area mills.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with silvicultural contractors, logging contractors, and MFM personnel in other areas.

Working Arrangement

Salary range is expected to be between

$42,075.00 USD - $70,125.00 USD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
