Position Summary:

The Forest Business and Operations team at the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources is searching for a research assistant to support a grant-funded research project focusing on mechanized tree planting. The research assistant will work closely with faculty and staff to conduct field data collection on bedding and tree planting systems, analyze data, prepare reports, and develop a manuscript. Responsibilities will also include preparing research summaries, and supporting dissemination of project results. This position requires a high degree of independence and initiative, with general supervision and support provided by faculty and staff. The position will be based in Athens, GA and most data collection will be conducted in Georgia and surrounding states. Some overnight travel to nearby states may be required, but all travel expenses will be covered.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Experience with data analysis and report writing Ability to work independently with general supervision Familiarity with forest operations and planting systems Experience with manuscript development or academic writing Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
