Job summary

PathGroup in Nashville, TN seeks an Autopsy Support Technician to assist with death investigations and forensic procedures, including body handling, documentation and evidence processing. You will work under medical examiner supervision and collaborate with the pathology team to ensure proper chain-of-custody and safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Mortuary or forensic experience preferred.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of regulations affecting the Medical Examiner's operation.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with receipt, recovery, documentation, photography, preservation, storage and release of bodies, clothing and valuables.
• Assist with collection, documentation, photography and processing of evidentiary materials including trace evidence, clothing and weapons.
• Assist with autopsy-related case or body examination including handling, opening and closing bodies and dissection.
• Handle and move cadavers, body parts, tissues and other potentially dangerous materials.
• Assist with preservation, labeling, storage and retrieval of tissues and samples for toxicologic, histologic and other analyses.
• Assist with notes, sketches, photographs, x-rays and other documentation of findings.
