Brevard County in Florida's Medical Examiners Office seeks an experienced autopsy technician to assist the Medical Examiner in conducting autopsies and forensic procedures to determine causes of death. This is a permanent full-time role with a 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
schedule and may include overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates should have two years of relevant medical laboratory experience; additional education may substitute.

$25.01 to $27.51 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Rockledge/Medical Examiner's Office. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and may include overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs experienced technical work assisting the Medical Examiner in conducting autopsies and performing forensic procedures to determine the legal and medical causes of death.
Two (2) years of experience in a medical laboratory, autopsy room, hospital ward, mortuary, or a closely related field. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Must be physically capable at all times of properly wearing and utilizing all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must be able to work irregular schedules including planned and unplanned overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Work is performed under adverse conditions and involves exposure to odors, fumes, hazardous chemicals, bodily fluids and tissues, and infectious diseases. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
