State of Washington Dept. of Social and Health Services is seeking a Chief Medical Officer for the Gage Center for Forensic Services at Western State Hospital.

You will lead multidisciplinary clinical teams, shape medical operations, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations while guiding GCFS through major organizational transitions. This executive role requires a Washington medical license, ABPN psychiatry certification, and proven medical leadership.

Qualifications

• Valid medical license in Washington state required.
• Board certification in General Psychiatry by ABPN.
• Demonstrated leadership in medical settings.
• Experience bringing private-sector practices into public healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate psychiatric and medical services for GCFS to ensure safe, patient-centred care.
• Lead strategic planning and operational execution for medical services and compliance with certification requirements.
• Build and mentor senior medical leaders including psychiatrists, physicians, ARNPs and clinical administrators.
• Oversee recruitment, credentialing, and privileging for 24/7 coverage and CMS compliance.
• Monitor performance across Medical Services, Clinical Lab, Radiology, PT, and Medical Clinic.
• Develop KPIs to improve efficiency, staff satisfaction, and patient outcomes.
