Job description

Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center (MHFPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists for their secure adult facility located in New Hampton, NY.

As a Psychiatrist at MHFPC, you will provide comprehensive, patient centered, and recovery focused treatments to individuals admitted by court order including:

  • Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and discharge evaluations
  • Conducting suicide, violence, and AIMS assessments
  • Engaging in forensic evaluations and completing forensic assessments
  • Testifying in court regarding the individual’s fitness capacity and medication treatment over objection
  • Creating treatment plans including medication management
  • Communicating with correctional facility and the individual’s counsels regarding the individual’s condition
About MHFPC:

MHFPC offers a comprehensive range of care and treatment for individuals aged 16 and older who have been incarcerated in state and county correctional systems. This service is provided at their secure forensic inpatient hospital and through a network of corrections-based mental health units that serve individuals in the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS). Located in Orange County, MHFPC is just an hour's drive from the heart of Manhattan and serves as a central hub for various experiences and adventures in upstate New York.

Minimum Qualifications:

Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.

Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
