Job summary

The University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth is seeking a Forensic Technologist to join the Missing Persons Unit. This role performs DNA extraction, quantification, amplification, and data loading to support investigations.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with related experience, a Texas FSSC license, and keen attention to detail. The incumbent will maintain labs, assist with court testimony, and work a typical 8:00am–5:00pm schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and three years of related experience.
  • Texas Forensic Science Commission Forensic Biology Technician License is required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to prepare detailed reports and present findings clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Casework examination following Quality Assurance Manual and Procedure Manual guidelines.
  • Perform DNA extractions, quantitation, amplifications, and load samples on genetic analyzers.
  • Coordinate with the analyst to determine reextractions or reamplifications as needed.
  • Assist with daily maintenance checks and stocking of laboratories.
  • Provide court testimony as required.
  • Maintain proficiency by completing external proficiency tests per year.

Education
