Job summary

The ATF is seeking a Chemist to work in the Office of Science and Technology, Forensic Science Laboratories, to provide highly technical services supporting law enforcement missions.

You will perform routine and specialized chemical examinations, prepare reports, and provide expert testimony based on laboratory findings; you will also help evaluate new technology and equipment. The position requires meeting rigorous educational and experience standards and passing background checks.

Qualifications

• Experience with wet chemistry and instrumental analyses.
• Ability to prepare lab reports and provide expert testimony.
• Background investigation and security clearance considerations.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine chemistry examinations (explosives or fire debris) using applicable methods.
• Prepare laboratory reports stating results of analysis.
• Provide expert witness testimony based on laboratory examinations.
