Job summary

Lubbock County Medical Examiner's Office seeks an Autopsy Technician to assist the Forensic Pathologist in autopsy prep, photography, supervised dissections, and paperwork.

Responsibilities include labeling, chain of custody, evidence documentation, scene photos, X-rays, and preparing requisitions. Requires an Associate degree in medical sciences and five years dissection experience; strong record-keeping and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in medical sciences and at least five years of practical dissection experience in a medical or laboratory environment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy related to morgue activities.
• Understanding of autopsy procedures, safety practices, and proper record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Forensic Pathologist with autopsies, including preparation of bodies, photographing remains, and supervised dissections.
• Create and manage labels, forms, and materials as directed and maintain chain of custody for evidence.
• Document evidence/property, transfer signatures, and maintain paperwork and photos for all deaths reported to LCME.
