Job description

Forensic / Autopsy Pathologist (Early-Career)
Washington, DC (In-Person Role | Relocation Supported)

EPIARX Diagnostics is a private pathology practice based in Washington, DC, specializing in autopsy and diagnostic pathology with an emphasis on precision, compassion, and innovation. We provide comprehensive services to families, hospitals, medical examiners, and partner institutions across nearly half the country — with particular strength along the East Coast, the DMV, and the West Coast.

We are a small but rapidly growing practice led by a team that values mentorship, collaboration, and intellectual curiosity. Our work sits at the intersection of science, medicine, and human impact, bringing clarity and care to families and professionals seeking answers.

Our office and lab are currently in Tenleytown, walking distance from the Metro, and we’re expanding into a new, state-of-the-art facility in Brookland (Northeast DC) in 2026 as we continue to grow our operations and capacity.

Position Overview

EPIARX is seeking an early-career Forensic/Autopsy Pathologist who is passionate about postmortem pathology, eager to develop strong hands‑on experience, and excited to join a dynamic private practice environment.

This role is ideal for a recent or soon‑to‑be residency graduate (within 12 months) who is Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anatomic Pathology (AP) and has meaningful exposure to autopsy pathology. Candidates with a Forensic Pathology Fellowship (completed or in progress) are strongly encouraged to apply.

You will begin with a primary focus on autopsy pathology, with opportunities to expand into diagnostic, consultative, and second‑opinion work as you grow. You will receive direct mentorship from Dr. Nemanja Rodic and gain exposure to a broad variety of private and institutional autopsy cases.

This is a full‑time, in‑person position based in Washington, DC. Relocation assistance is available.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform autopsies and assist in all aspects of postmortem pathology, including gross examination, microscopic evaluation, and case reporting.
  • Conduct case reviews and contribute to diagnostic interpretations under supervision from senior pathologists.
  • Prepare and sign out autopsy reports in compliance with regulatory, ethical, and professional standards.
  • Collaborate with administrative and consultation teams to ensure timely case management and clear communication with referring entities.
  • Participate in quality assurance, case review discussions, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain meticulous records and uphold the highest standards of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Engage in continuing medical education and professional development activities to advance expertise.
  • Support research, teaching, or presentation initiatives as desired, contributing to the visibility and growth of EPIARX’s pathology services.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a Pathology Residency (within the last 12 months or by Summer 2026).
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anatomic Pathology (AP).
  • Forensic Pathology Fellowship completed or in progress preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest or hands‑on experience in autopsy pathology (required).
  • Strong technical, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive cases with professionalism and empathy.
  • Organized, self‑motivated, and eager to learn in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Base Salary: $200,000–$220,000 annually, commensurate with experience and training.
  • Benefits Include:
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance subsidies
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 6.5-day paid holiday break (Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day)
  • 401(k) with matching
  • Life insurance and disability coverage
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Birthday leave
