Job summary

Pike Electric, LLC is seeking a safety‑driven Foreman to lead crews in constructing and repairing electrical transmission lines across energized and de-energized systems. Travel to multiple job sites, including out-of-state locations, is required to meet client needs and project deadlines.

You will report to the General Foreman and ensure safe, high‑quality work using industry best practices, climbing structures, operating heavy equipment, and coordinating crews on time.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of recent transmission line experience.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work for extended periods at different job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
  • Willing to work outside normal hours, including weekends, holidays, emergencies and overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Perform new construction, maintain and repair energized and de-energized transmission systems while prioritizing safety.
  • Lead crew members and conduct pre-job and tailgate safety briefings.
  • Coach and train lower classification employees in safe, productive work procedures.
  • Oversee project work and ensure quality and on-time completion.
  • Install and repair overhead transmission lines, poles, insulators, conductors and related hardware.
  • Knowledge of switching, tagging procedures, EPZ-grounding and voltage considerations on de-energized lines.
  • Climb structures using approved methods and equipment.
  • Work at heights and near energized equipment.
  • Acquire knowledge in bare hand work up to 44kV and 500kV.
  • Operate and maintain bucket trucks, digger derricks, tensioners and pullers.
  • Work outdoors in varying conditions and be available for outages or emergencies.
  • Follow PPE protocols and insulation practices.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Foreman is a safety focused professional with the ability to lead a crew to construct and repair electrical transmission systems. You will work on energized and de-energized powerlines and may be required to travel to different job sites, including out-of-state locations, as operational and customer needs dictate. You will report to the General Foreman.

Essential Functions


  • Perform new construction, maintain and repair energized and de-energized transmission systems while putting safety first.

  • Lead crew members and conduct pre-job and tailgate safety briefings.

  • Must be experienced with coaching and training lower classification employee in safe and productive work procedures.

  • Oversee work related to each project and assume full responsibility for its quality and completion deadline.

  • Install and repair overhead transmission lines, poles, insulators, conductors and related hardware.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of switching and tagging procedures, EPZ-grounding and understanding induced voltage on de-energized lines using the proper tools and test equipment.

  • Climb different structures (wood, steel, concrete) using approved climbing methods and equipment.

  • Work at heights and in proximity to energized equipment.

  • Willing and capable to obtain knowledge in bare hand work - 44kV and 500kV.

  • Proficient in all aspects of heavy lifting and rigging.

  • Operate and maintain bucket trucks, digger derricks, tensioners and pullers and other pieces of transmission line equipment.

  • Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.

  • Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.

  • Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and possess a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential on energized lines.

The job frequently requires you to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle objects, operate tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.



Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at constructions job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
