Job description

Position Summary

The Sheet Metal Foreman I plays a key leadership role in overseeing and managing a team of Sheet Metal Technicians. Reporting directly to the Project Superintendent, this position ensures the delivery of exceptional quality, safety, and customer service on all projects. The Foreman collaborates closely with company leadership to align team efforts with organizational goals, driving profitability through efficient execution, proactive problem‑solving, and high standards of performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively identify and develop solutions to potential issues, preventing them from escalating into problems.
  • Review project scope, drawings, and requirements with the Superintendent and/or Project Manager once equipment and subcontractors are procured.
  • Conduct on‑site physical surveys alongside the Superintendent to assess job conditions and provide written reports to the Project Manager as needed.
  • Perform accurate and timely material takeoffs in collaboration with the Superintendent.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all on‑site activities, including scheduling, material control, tool/equipment rentals, and crew assignments.
  • Provide daily updates on job completion percentages and progress.
  • Ensure all on‑site personnel comply with project procedures, safety regulations, company policies, and other requirements; document incidents immediately, notify the Project Manager and Superintendent, and recommend/implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee completion and timely submission of all required weekly reports, including safety/toolbox talks, preconstruction meetings, production reports, and any project‑specific documentation.
  • Conduct regular job site inspections to verify compliance with IC Mechanical quality standards, ensure proper detailing, confirm readiness for startup, and coordinate as needed with contractors, engineers, subcontractors, owners, and other stakeholders during startup and commissioning.
  • Coordinate with the shop team on production scheduling, fabrication, and timely deliveries to the job site.
  • Lead the team to continuously improve efficiency while upholding the highest safety standards at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience in sheet metal installation and leadership, preferably as a journeyman or able to obtain required licensing.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, prepare accurate materials lists, and perform takeoffs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated, punctual, and highly organized with strong multi‑tasking and follow‑up abilities (both internal and external).
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Experience working in government facilities is a plus.
