Job summary

Zachry Group is seeking an experienced Reinforcing Ironworker supervisor in North Carolina. The role entails leading a crew on complex projects, reading blueprints, identifying tools and safety requirements, and overseeing fabrication, hoisting, and installation of rebar and related components.

The candidate must have 4+ years as an Ironworker with 1+ year of supervisory experience, strong crew-management and cost-control skills, and the ability to meet physical demands.

Qualifications

• 4+ years’ experience as a Reinforcing Ironworker and 1+ years’ supervisory experience.
• Ability to read prints and drawings.
• Working knowledge of rebar including size, material, quantities and specifications.
• Working knowledge of all tools.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine scope of work, locations, quantities and sizes of materials.
• Identify tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and precautions.
• Fabricate equipment according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Hoist equipment and tools into a location via bull rigging or crane.
• Position and secure equipment such as rebar, mesh and end caps using bending machines and hand tools.
• Cut, bend and weld iron/steel pieces using torches and welding equipment.

Required Qualifications

• Must have 4+ years’ experience as a Reinforcing Ironworker and 1+ years’ supervisory experience.
• Must be able to read prints and drawings.
• Must have a working knowledge of rebar including to but not limited to size, material, quantities and other specifications to meet the requirements as stated on the prints and drawings.
• Must have a working knowledge of all tools.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
• Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
• National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) certification for Industrial Journeyman Carpenter.
• Formal/Technical education.
• Experience working with rebar, concrete and carpentry.

Reports to Position

This position will be responsible for a crew of up to 5-15 craft workers. The crew will be a mix of journeyman, helpers, and laborers.

Physical Requirements

• Employees will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
• Will talk and hear to communicate.
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
• May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
• Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.
