Job summary

Cemex US is seeking a Foreman Plant in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This role assists in day-to-day plant operations, safety, KPIs, environmental and maintenance of equipment. You will help ensure safe operations and contribute to meeting KPI and profitability targets.

The position requires a high school diploma, with at least two years' experience in plant production, safety, and maintenance; ACI certification is preferred. Strong leadership and English proficiency are essential.

  • Ensure safety of employees, contractors, and the public at the plant.
  • Assist in managing costs and KPIs for the plant and help meet profit and KPI goals.
  • Coordinate with Plant Superintendent and other managers to resolve production problems and improve performance.

Job Summary

Assists in management of day-to-day plant operations, Safety, KPIs, Environmental and maintenance of assigned plant and its equipment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Promotes safety within assigned plant and serves as an example using visible felt leadership
  • Responsible for ensuring employees are identifying Safety Improvement Cards (SIC) opportunities
  • Assists in the review and closure of all Safety Improvement Cards for assigned plant
  • Review and maintain driver VCR’s and logs daily
  • Responsible for the safety of all employees and the safety of anyone at assigned plant
  • Understands that nothing is more important than the safety of CEMEX employees, contractors, and the general public
  • Assists in managing costs and key performance indicators (KPI) for assigned plant
  • Expected to meet clearly defined profit and loss statement and KPI goals
  • Confers with Plant Superintendent, Area Manager, Plant and Fleet Maintenance Managers and other supervisory personnel to resolve production problems, provide immediate feedback, and may recommend solutions to improve performance
  • Ensures daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance is performed and assists in performing minor repairs and maintenance of the plant
  • Assists and performs (as required) the operation of concrete batching to ensure the correct amount/proportion/sizes of cement, aggregates and additives are used
  • Monitors quality and quantity of raw materials to ensure that products meet established standards
  • Interact with Dispatch and Customer Service as needed to coordinate efficient delivery of product and makes recommendations for improvement
  • Responsible for appearance of the assigned plant and surrounding area
  • Coordinates with Plant Superintendent, Area Manager, and Environmental Department to ensure the plant is compliant with federal, state, and local regulations and requirements
  • Assists ongoing improvement and support through Operational Excellence (OE) initiatives and projects in coordination with the Plant Superintendent
  • Maintain recordkeeping of all logs, audits, KPIs, projects, etc. related to plant operations
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, MSHA, and OSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimim twoyears’ experience performing varied responsibilities related to plant production, safety, and maintenance; equipment maintenance; experience in detecting and resolving production problems
  • ACI Certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of OSHA/DOT regulations
  • Strong Basic Computer Skills including, but not limited to, MS Outlook, Excel, Command, KRONOS
  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills
  • Must be proficient in the English language
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to work all hours – including nights and weekends
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location
Physical Requirements
  • Requires stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position
  • Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
